This is a very yummy, great grown-up tasting pizza. The recipe was inspired by a pizza place on the Homer Spit in Alaska. When I sold my house in Homer, this was one of the many things I missed, so created my own version.
1prepared pizza crust - available in groceries by the refrigerated biscuits
heavy duty tin foil, preferably non-stick
1tTruffle Oil
2clovesRoasted Garlic
Fresh sage
1/2pear per pizza
2ozGorgonzola cheese
7ozItalian cheese blend
1TPine nuts
Red pepper flakes, to taste
Instructions
Place crusts on tin foil
Brush pizza crusts with truffle oil
Squeeze cloves of garlic over the crust and spread evenly
Slice pears thinly and place on the pizza in a single layer
5 Sprinkle with fresh sage
Top with Gorgonzola and Italian cheese blend
Sprinkle with pine nuts
Place pizza on the tin foil directly on the grill or grate
Cook until cheese bubbles and browns
Be careful not to burn the bottom of the crust
Preheat grill to about 500 degrees. Once it reaches temperature, turn the center burner to low and side burners to medium. Place pizza in the center of the grill.
Notes
Roast the garlic on the grill or oven prior to making pizzas. It's simple to do - drizzle the garlic with wrap in tin foil and either place over the coals or on a grate. Want to try making your own pizza crust. Get the recipe for a whole wheat pizza crust.
