This is the secret to perfectly crisp bacon every time. Get perfectly crisp bacon without all the greasy mess of stovetop frying.



  • 1 lbs bacon thick cut
  • 1 T black pepper fresh ground


  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

  2. Place an ovenproof wire rack on a cookie sheet lined with tin foil.

  3. Place bacon in a single layer, making sure to keep the bacon flat.

  4. Cook for 8 minutes and turn bacon.

  5. Cook for an additional 5 -10 minutes.  Keep an eye on the bacon, so that it doesn't burn.

  6. Remove and drain on a paper towel covered plate.

  7. Serve warm.

Recipe Notes

You can cook the bacon in advance and store in a covered container in the refrigerator.  Heat in the microwave on a microwave-safe plate between layers of paper towel.

If you want to freeze the bacon to serve later, cook until almost done, cool and freeze.  To serve cook in the microwave on a microwave-safe plate between layers of paper towel until crispy.
