I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to margaritas but I love cocktails that use herbs in interesting ways. This one is amazing, the muddled basil is a refreshing twist on a classic. Don't like basil, just leave it out. The best Margaritas use fresh lime + quality tequila and good orange liqueur, like Cointreau or Grand Marnier. Simple, easy, stress-free. For the best results use a high-quality tequila, made with 100 percent agave. Get the Perfect Classic Margarita Recipe Obviously, the best margarita is made with freshly squeezed lime. Notes
I love margaritas with a little heat - if you are feeling brave add a tiny bit of jalapeno, cored and seeded, to the basil and strawberry when you muddle. Start slow, as some chiles are hotter than others. * A note about pre-mixed margarita and mixes. I personally think there are a few premade margaritas that are actually pretty good and make it easy to throw an impromptu party. I do draw the line at the pre-sweetened mixes - I've never had good results using these.
