Tropical Coco Loco Sauce
Tropical Coco Loco Wing Sauce is a copycat version of the sauce served at Hurricane Bar and Grill. Sweet heat with yummy coconut – kind of a spicy Pina Colada flavor. This is one of my favorites.
The Coco Loco wings sauce is great on grilled wings, grilled chicken breasts, shrimp, grilled pork tenderloin and is a great dipping sauce for sweet potato fries.
Try this sauce with grilled chicken wings.
Tropical Coco Loco Wing Sauce
This is a tropical twist on spicy wing sauces. This is a spicy sweet heat. The heat comes from habaneros and the sweetness comes from cream of coconut, the stuff you use for Piña coladas. This is amazing on wings, chicken breasts and even a dipping sauce for sweet potato fries.
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 2 T habaneros* seeded and finely diced. Use more or less based on the desired level of heat.
- 1/4 cup Coco Real Cream of Coconut
- salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients except habaneros and simmer over medium heat. Add habaneros 1 t at a time, tasting as you go, until you reach the desired level of heat. Continue to cook to desired saucy consistency.
*Make sure you wear rubber gloves when handling any hot pepper. Additionally, I wear a pair of glasses when I work with peppers. I had a piece of pepper flip into my eye when dicing, it was very painful. Learn from my mistake.
Habeneros are really hot on the Scoville Heat Scale they range from 100,000 to 350,000, by comparison, a Jalapeño is 2,500 - 5,000 and cayenne pepper is 30,000 - 50,000.
Toss over grilled chicken wings.
