The Scarlett O’Hara Southern Comfort® Cocktail Recipe
The Scarlett O’Hara Southern Comfort Cocktail is a refreshing summer sipper, made with Southern Comfort, cranberry juice and lime.
My first “real” job out of college was working for Brown-Forman – the makers of Jack Daniel’s and until 2016, Southern Comfort. It was the perfect job—by day I drove around in my company car, armed with a feather duster, a box cutter and stacks of point-of-sale –but several nights a week I “had” to make bar calls. In other words, I’d go to bars and buy people drink – I was pretty popular when I showed up. 🙂
The Scarlett O’Hara cocktail was one of the first bar promotions I remember working.
Give Southern Comfort a Try
Dark Spirits vs. Light Spirits
Light spirits like vodka, rum, and tequila have overshadowed more traditional dark spirits like bourbon in recent years. Southern Comfort, being a dark spirit also declined in popularity but this is a spirit that needs a second look. It’s a complex mixer that adds great flavor to lemonade or fruit juice.
Southern Comfort History
Southern Comfort is an American whiskey-flavored liqueur with fruit (primarily peaches) and spice. The brand was created by a New Orleans bartender named Martin Wilkes Heron in 1874. The original base spirit was whiskey. Today Southern Comfort is made with American grain as the base spirit.
