How To Make Cajun Seasoning Mix

I like to know what’s in my spice mixes and am not crazy about ingredients I can’t pronounce. So I never buy spice blends.  I make a large batch of this Cajun seasoning mix and store it a glass bottle so I have it ready when I need it.

Cajun Seasoning Mix

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 48 servings
Calories: 1kcal
Easy to make and so much better than prepackaged mixes with preservatives.

  • 1 t ground black pepper 

  • 1 1/2 cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/4 t dried thyme
  • 1 1/4 dried oregano
  • 2 t fine sea salt
  • 2 t black pepper
  • 2 t dried basil

  • 2 t garlic powder 

  • 2 1/2 t sweet paprika
  • 1 t onion powder


  • Place all ingredients in a glass container with an airtight lid.
  • Shake well to mix.
  • Store in an airtight glass container. Will keep for a couple of months.


Blacken meat and seafood.
Use in Gumbo and Jambalaya.
Season poultry.
Use as the base spice for BBQ shrimp.
