Where can I find shrimp base?
Hi Pam,
You can find shrimp base in most grocery stores in either the Mexican food section, the Cajun/Creole section or near chicken broth and bouillon cubes.
Go to your local restaurant ask to show speak to the Chef ask him if he has any or if he can order you some. U can go to sams club or Costco
Is shrimp base the same as the shrimp paste used in Asian recipes?
No, shrimp base is fermented. Shrimp base is like a bouillon for shrimp/seafood stock. Prepared, this base has the pleasant flavor and aroma characteristic of shrimp stock.
What is the stuff in the middle? Looks maybe like some grits? Recipe?
Thanks,
Pat
They are white cheddar cheese grits. I’ll try to post my recipe soon.

I never had House of Blues VooDoo Shrimp but this recipe is delicious!
I was lucky enough to eat this amazing dish in the house of blues in Florida. Unfortunately we don’t have ‘shrimp base’ in England. I would love to make this.
