Simple and easy green bean recipe – the honey orange green beans recipe is the perfect side dish for special meals and easy enough for everyday dinner. Honey and orange combine with the green beans to create a unique side dish. Since they can be served at room temperature this is a great vegetable dish for holidays.

Honey Orange Green Beans

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

Calories: 68kcal
Make sure not to over cook your green beans. This recipe is best if the beans are just barely cooked.

  • 2 lbs Green beans
  • Orange peel from 1/2 a navel orange
  • 1/4 t Lemon
  • 2 T Honey
  • 1 t Sea salt for boiling water


  • Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a rapid boil
  • Once the water is boiling add green beans, reduce heat to low and blanch for a couple of minutes until al-dente
  • Grate the peel of 1/2 an orange, making sure not to get the bitter white pith
  • Toss green beans with lemon juice and honey
  • then sprinkle with orange peel - toss thoroughly and serve either warm or at room temperature


These are delicious and super easy.  They taste just as good at room temperature, so this is a perfect side for a backyard barbecue.
