Honey Orange Green Beans

Make sure not to over cook your green beans. This recipe is best if the beans are just barely cooked.


  • 2 lbs Green beans
  • Orange peel from 1/2 a navel orange
  • 1/4 t Lemon
  • 2 T Honey
  • 1 t Sea salt for boiling water


  1. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a rapid boil

  2. Once the water is boiling add green beans, reduce heat to low and blanch for a couple of minutes until al-dente

  3. Grate the peel of 1/2 an orange, making sure not to get the bitter white pith

  4. Toss green beans with lemon juice and honey
  5. then sprinkle with orange peel - toss thoroughly and serve either warm or at room temperature

Recipe Notes

These are delicious and super easy.  They taste just as good at room temperature, so this is a perfect side for a backyard barbecue.
