Ingredients

Blackberry Sage Lemonade

  • 1 cup lemon juice - Approx. 6 lemons
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 to 6 cups cold water
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage leaves

Hard Blackberry Lemonade Cocktail

  • 2 oz Vodka - per serving

Instructions

Blackberry Sage Lemonade

  • Juice the lemons, you will want about 1 cup of lemon juice. Strain the juice if you prefer pulp-free lemonade.
  • Prepare simple syrup using 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring the water and sugar to a boil, stirring, until sugar is dissolved.  ** If you need to make this quickly or just don't want to wait for the syrup to cool combine the water and sugar in a container with a lid and shake vigorously until sugar has dissolved.
  • Combine lemon juice and simple syrup and allow the lemon and sugar combination to cool.
  • **Adjust the proportions of lemon juice to simple syrup to change the sweetness or tartness of the lemonade to suit your preference.
  • Place blackberries in a food processor with sage and 1/4 cup lemon simple syrup and puree until smooth.
  • Add 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher, mix well
  • Taste lemonade and add more water until you reach the desired sweet-tart balance.
  • Place blackberry sage puree in a large pitcher.
  • Add 4 cups of cold water and the remaining lemon simple syrup.  Add more cold water as desired.

Hard Blackberry Lemonade Cocktail

  • On an 8 oz glass filled with ice add 2 oz of vodka and fill with blackberry sage lemonade.  Serve over ice.
