Gambas Al Ajillo | Classic Spanish Garlic Shrimp Tapas. This buttery, garlicky rendition of the Spanish tapas favorite is super fast and easy.

This is a super easy and fast appetizer or main dish.  It cooks in less than 10 minutes.

Gambas Al Ajillo | Spanish Garlic Prawns

A favorite dish in Spanish tapas bars and restaurants. This yummy shrimp dish is swimming in the most delicious sauce of butter and garlic.
Easy to make and always a hit.
Serve with a simple green salad and crusty bread for sopping up the amazing sauce.

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 lbs shrimp - peeled and deveined
  • 5 garlic cloves - minced (more if you are a garlic lover)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 t paprika
  • 1/2 t red pepper flakes - to taste
  • 4 T flat leaf parsley - chopped
  • salt
  • fresh ground pepper
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes - sliced in half


  • Heat the olive oil and butter In a wide, shallow sauté pan or my favorite Calphalon Everyday pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add the Shrimp and Garlic and sauté quickly for about 2-3 minutes, until shrimp is pink and opaque.
  • Add cherry tomatoes.
  • Add the lemon juice, paprika, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer to a warmed serving dish, sprinkle with the parsley and serve at once with crusty bread.
