This recipe for fried jalapeños is super easy and you can make a batch of fried jalapeños slices and keep them in an airtight container for a week or so. You can use these to top tacos, burritos, burgers, pizza or a salad. They also look great served on top of guacamole.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 t fine sea salt
  • 1 t ground black pepper
  • 1 t chili powder
  • 1 t garlic powder
  • 1 t chipotle powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup Mexican beer
  • vegetable oil per deep fryer instruction or enough to cover a deep sided skillet
  • 1 cup jalapeno pepper - thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Mix flour, spices, eggs, and beer together in a bowl.
  • Preheat oil to 385 degrees F in a deep fryer or heat oil in a deep sided skillet.
  • Dip jalapeno slices in the batter, then carefully place into the hot oil.
  • Work in small batches to keep oil hot and jalapenos from sticking together.
  • They are done when they float to the surface of the deep fryer
  • If using a skillet they are done when golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Repeat with remaining jalapenos.

Notes

Now you are ready to top just about anything with the spicy treat. Drizzle with honey for a delicious salad topping.
