This recipe for fried jalapeños is super easy and you can make a batch of fried jalapeños slices and keep them in an airtight container for a week or so. You can use these to top tacos, burritos, burgers, pizza or a salad. They also look great served on top of guacamole.
Use these on the South of the Border Burger.
Fried Jalapeños Slices
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 t fine sea salt
- 1 t ground black pepper
- 1 t chili powder
- 1 t garlic powder
- 1 t chipotle powder
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup Mexican beer
- vegetable oil per deep fryer instruction or enough to cover a deep sided skillet
- 1 cup jalapeno pepper - thinly sliced
- Mix flour, spices, eggs, and beer together in a bowl.
- Preheat oil to 385 degrees F in a deep fryer or heat oil in a deep sided skillet.
- Dip jalapeno slices in the batter, then carefully place into the hot oil.
- Work in small batches to keep oil hot and jalapenos from sticking together.
- They are done when they float to the surface of the deep fryer
- If using a skillet they are done when golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Repeat with remaining jalapenos.
